Resumo:
Gender is an inherent feature of the Dení language. All nouns can be classified as masculine, feminine, or those that are predictable as either masculine or feminine. Verb endings carry agreement with the subject or object, depending on which person is used and whether a transitive or intransitive clause is used. Verb endings on verb forms which function as adjectives carry agreement with the noun they modify. Nouns, certain of which can be used as adjectives for inanimate objects, as well as demonstrative pronouns, demonstrative adverbs, and demonstrative presentational clauses are divided into corresponding sets of masculine and feminine.
