Resumo:
The conjuction fai (and so) with its varients fai-ya (and so there) and faira (but) occur at transition points in Jamamadi narrative. These transition points are at paragraph and episode boundaries. Fai and fai-ya occur only with event line information and serve to bring the story back to the sequence of events that directly concern the topic or move the sequence forward after delays. Fara (but) does not occur in personal narrative. It occurs mostly with evaluative, stative, or identifying information and occasionally with events. Its function is to indicate a causative relation at key points in the story, such as the compilation, resolution and coda.
