A general introduction of morphological characteristics of lowland South American languages based on selected languages representing the major, and some minor, families of the region: Pano-Tacanan, Maipuran, Arawakan, Tucanoan, Saliban, Zaparoan, Yaguan, Huitotoan, Cahuapanan, Jê-Bororo, Tupian, Cariban and Makú. This work was originally presented at the Working Conference on Amazonian Languages held at the University of Oregon in August 1987.
