Extensão:
pages 75-87
Descrição:
A comparative study of five widespread grammatical forms in numerous South American and other closely related languages and language families. Certain possessive devices are also compared. The patterns noted suggest the need to investigate possible genetic relationships between these languages and language families. Data from over 40 languages are cited, not all of which have been definitively identified. This work was originally presented at the Working Conference on Amazonian Languages held at the University of Oregon in August 1987.
